Jiangdong district is situated at the geometric center of the 6 urban districts of Ningbo, at the front edge of the eastward development of Ningbo, and is the pivot area connecting the airport with the seaport. The Beilun Port lies to its east and Sanjiangkou (three estuaries), the most thriving area of Ningbo, adjoins in the west. Ningbo High-Tech Park lies to its north and Ningbo Higher Education Zone to its south. Jiangdong district covers an area of 37.7 sq. km., and has a residential population of about 258,000, with 8 sub-districts under its jurisdiction. It is a developing modern central district of Ningbo, clustering the urban resources.

Jiangdong district is the key urban district and the main metropolitan area that plays a leading role in Ningbo. It is oriented to be the modern tertiary industry zone in the development of an international seaport, a harmonious living environment, and a modern central district. In the following five years, Jiangdong district will assume the future urban functions of business and commerce, exhibition and logistics, and government administration, focusing on the development of related industries of exhibition, logistics, finance, intermediary service, information and creation and becoming the industrial centers of international trade, shipping, and financial service.

Transportation Condition

The Shanghai¨CHangzhou¨CNingbo Expressway, which cuts its way to Beilun Port (20- minute drive) passes across Jiangdong district. The Tongsan Expressway, which links major cities alongside China coastline from Tongjiang city of Heilongjiang province to Sanya city of Hainan province, crosses Jiangdong district. It takes only about 1.5 hours to drive to Hangzhou. The 36 km-long bridge connecting Ningbo and Shanghai across the Hangzhou Bay is now open to use, and it takes less than 2 hours to drive to Shanghai. The Lishe International Airport (15-minute-drive from Jiangdong) now offers flights to more than 30 major cities, including Hongkong and Macau, and international flights to Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore. The Xiaoshan International Airport is within the one-hour traffic ring.

Economic Foundation

The year 2007 witnessed a rapid and healthy economic and social development in Jiangdong. The region¡¯s GDP reached 22.72 billion RMB yuan, increased by 12.7%. The leading role of tertiary industry is further enhanced, as it constitutes 70.2% of the GDP, in which the modern tertiary industry takes up 50% of the total added value of the tertiary industry. The total industrial output came to 10.8 billion RMB yuan, and the regional industrial performance index topped in the city, with high-tech product output accounting for 55% of the total industrial output. The per capita disposable income was 22,000 yuan.

The four distinct seasons with mild climate and abundant rainfall makes Ningbo a remarkable place rich in natural scenic spots and human culture. The air quality of Ningbo reaches grade A all year round. There is no geographical faultages, earthquakse nor flood in Ningbo.

Catering & Entertainment--There are many high and medium rank hotels and restaurants in Jiangdong district, among which are 3 five-star hotels and five four-star ones. The Shangri-La Hotel and Radison Hotel are to be put into use since 2008.? Xiangyang Fishery Restaurant, Shipu Restaurant, Xincaihong? Restaurant, and Hantong Restaurant are the most famous restaurants in Ningbo and also in China. They provide various valued delicious seafood and snacks, which can meet different demands. Sports facilities like Ningbo Sports Center, Ningbo Swimming Center and Youngor Gymnasium provide citizens with recreation.
