As a gift to Ningbo, Ningbo port achieved 0.31 billion product throughput in 2006. That was 15.2% more than last year, ranking second in the mainland. The throughput of container claimed to 7.068 million, with the increase of 35.7%, ranking the 4th in the mainland and 13th worldwide. Ningbo port is reviewed as one of the best five ports in the world. The port takes the 3rd place in Maersk international efficiency for loading and unloading. Currently, Ningbo formed transportation net among Jinhua, Taizhou, Wenzhou and Hangzhou within 2 hours and double of Shanghai and Nanjing. With the finish of constructions for cross Sea Bridge, Ningbo will realize as the important base in Yangtze delta region.
Jiangdong, as the center of new downtown, owns the advantage of location, which is only 20 minutes drive to the Beilun Port. There are three high ways crossings there and the international shipping center is now building at the moment. The world top 20 shipping companies are in Ningbo, with more than half of them are in Jiangodng, namely, UPS, Maersk etc. the industry belt is obvious and the business center is calling for.
